From One Course to the Global Standard in Battery Fire Safety

Atar Fire filled a gap in the market for fire safety services for battery energy storage systems when we launched in 2023. With fire safety and engineering experience, founder Nicholas Bartlett developed a full-day course on designing BESS to comply with NFPA 855 and other codes and standards.

In short order, Bartlett had delivered the course to several hundred fire and building officials in the U.S., expanded the offering to NFPA 68, NFPA 69 and other standards, and presented trainings in Europe, Australia, and Asia. Growth in Atar Fire services has followed a steep upward trajectory as well.

Leadership

The Atar Fire team, led by founder Nicholas Bartlett, brings expertise in BESS codes and standards along with a balanced mix of experience in engineering and fire safety.

Bartlett served as AHJ at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and Fire Marshal at National Laboratory of the Rockies prior to founding Atar Fire. Since 2022, Bartlett has contributed as a Technical Committee member to the development of NFPA 855, UL 9540/A, and UL 1973.
